Firstly – there’s what I posted in my Facebook status. Sure it seems like a layperson’s misconception, but the cardiologist had just said that preventing heart disease should start in pediatrics, that people should get yearly checkups, that the first symptom may be unexplained death, and that it happened in Tim Russert despite close medical supervision. Only then did Gretchen go off on her “STRESS TEST LOL” tangent. Unbelievable.
Also the guy-on-Fox-and-Friends-that-Nathan-doesn’t-call-Steve-Douchey had an unbelievable lightbulb moment. “Can’t we just clean your arteries like we clean plumbing?” Nice concept, but we usually don’t disassemble patients like toilets and then clean their individual components – they have a nasty tendency to die.
Also, they acted as if the FDA was considering removing Tylenol from the market – and because of that they need to come and clean the coffee out of my goddamn curtains. The FDA *is* considering yanking combination products that contain acetaminophen, which is a smart thing. Some of these stupid cold/cough/congestion products have 4 or so ingredients and I can’t name many patients who are likely to go down the list of ingredients and then compare it with whatever else they’re taking. The backoftheboxliteratureandprose doesn’t count either – not many people read it. If you want people to, y’know, stop dying from liver damage move the important warnings to the front of the box and then consider the combination products thing. But please don’t consider yanking prescription-only combination products – e.g. Lortab/Lorcet/Vicodin/Percocet/Ultracet/NorCo/etc – that’s just silly.
Awesome: 1 q daily.
