So about the only thing that occurred of note today is that I went to the pharmacy where I have my summer rotation and touched base. By "touched base" I mean I went and met my preceptor and made sure he wasn't going to shoot me when 300 lb bearded me showed up outside his pharmacy wednesday morning. Seriously, he could confuse me for a sasquatch looking for finasteride refills / looking to brutally murder his employees. Either way, crisis avoided.
Also, I'm mostly just getting readjusted to life in Eastern Kentucky, where everyone talks slower and still gets it wrong. For those of you thinking Eastern Kentucky is just like any other part of Ky, umm no. The internet is 1/20th the speed as lexington and the roads are 1/3-1/6th as wide. The road most of the way from US 23 has a healthy canopy of trees covering the entire road. I'm 40 minutes from the nearest Wal-Mart, and 5 minutes from cell phone reception. Anyway, here are a couple links to stories that mattered to me:
CNN Pooped in Healthcare's Bed
The above story is about too many damn people going to the emergency room because they thought they had swine flu. The headline could basically be changed too "Woops, Our Bad." The story even mentions one guy who went to the ER because of "pork eaten one week ago." I hate to point it out -- but there are enough stupid people in the general public that the media really shouldn't give them an excuse to be stupid.
Egypt slaughters all its pigs, and then Mexico lowers its alert level
Yeah, so Egypt ordered all of the pigs in the country to be slaughtered to prevent the spread of swine flu. The real slap in the face is that there have been *zero* cases of swine flu in the country. They're acting preemptively as if this is going to be the pandemic that ends the world...but of course that story was a few days ago -- and today Mexico (the country hit hardest by H1N1) announced its lowering its threat level. How do you feel now Egypt? Eventually they'll discover that those pigs could have been used for something -- like eating.
Okay, and one thing I want to do with each and every blog entry is to post something awesome. Today's awesome content is a video from college humor video about condoms, enjoy:
